Announcements

Official messages to staff, kept out of everyday posts.

Announcements are the official channel. Super Admins and Comms Admins publish them, they hold the top of the feed while pinned, and everything else appears newest first with no engagement ranking. Employees post Updates and Wins inside the Spaces they belong to.

Announcements are on Command and HQ. Acknowledgement, the three post types and the feed order itself are on every plan.

The pinned one is the oldest of the four. That is the rule doing its work. Under it, the dates descend and nothing reorders them.

Three types, fixed

What can be posted, by whom, and where.

Posts come in three types, Update, Win and Announcement, and that set is fixed.

    • Announcement, not available here

Any member of the SpaceAn Announcement is refused here. It exists on the global feed only, which is what keeps the official channel from becoming another place to post.

Super Admins and Comms AdminsNobody else posts here at all, whichever type they pick. An Announcement then needs Command or HQ on top of the role.

Who it is for

Three people, and what each of them gets.

  • Dr Tessa PalmerHead of clinical governance

Publishes the protocol as an announcement and pins it. It holds the top of the feed for as long as it is pinned, rather than depending on anything to decide it was worth showing.

    Comms Admin
  • Simon NaylorRegistered nurse

Opens the app and the important thing is first. Everything under it is in the order it happened, so scrolling twice does not produce a different feed.

  • Laura KentWard lead, Nursing

Posts a Win in her ward Space when the audit comes back clean. She cannot send an announcement, and that is the point: the official channel stays official.

What it holds

Five things, and the plan each one needs.

  • Acknowledgement on any post

Any post can require an acknowledgement, on every plan, and admins see the count against the workspace's active users.

    Every plan
  • Three post types

Update, Win and Announcement; the set is fixed so the feed stays legible. Announcements are on Command and HQ.

    Every plan
  • Drafts, templates and a calendar

Anyone can save, resume and duplicate drafts. HQ adds reusable templates and a month-view content calendar.

    Every plan
  • Approval before publishing

On HQ, an approval rule holds every new announcement until it clears the chain you configured, and an author cannot approve their own.

    HQ
  • Video posts

Command and HQ post video to the feed, transcoded with an automatic English caption track: 300 upload minutes a month on Command, 600 on HQ.

The limits

What an announcement does not do.

Pinned posts hold the top of the feed; everything else appears newest-first, with no engagement scoring or re-ranking.

  • Employees cannot send one, on any plan

Announcements are admin-only. That is not a tier you can buy your way past: a Super Admin or a Comms Admin publishes them, and everybody else posts Updates and Wins.

  • An announcement is not a Space post

It exists on the global feed only and cannot be posted inside a Space. Inside a Space the two types available are Update and Win.

  • Nothing decides what matters for you

Pinned holds the top, and everything else is newest first. There is no engagement scoring and no relevance model, so a post cannot be resurfaced later because other people interacted with it. That is a design decision, not a gap.

  • Video is metered, and the captions are English

Three hundred upload minutes a month on Command and six hundred on HQ, and the automatic caption track is English. Neither figure is a soft limit that quietly bills you more.
